Arthur H. Keller; Father
Arthur H. Keller was a veteran of the Civil war, then a magazine editor, then U.S. Marshall appointed by Grover Cleveland. He was born in 1836, and died in 1896.
With his first wife, he had two sons. She passed away and he remarried Kate Adams, the mother of Helen Keller.
He strongly disliked discipline and reprimanding children. It is said that, at dinner time, a young Helen (before Anne Sullivan) walked from plate to plate at the dinner table, eating everything and anything she pleased. Her father chose to let her do it because he disliked discipline so much.
